Welcome!
Hello. Thanks for seeking information about our
small
friendly San Francisco Backpacker Hostel. Pacific Tradewinds Hostel has
an atmosphere that is welcoming and personal. Guests tell us the
feeling here is like visiting friends rather than impersonal as some
larger city hostels can be.
Because of our small size, guests and staff
here
really get to know each other. In the hostel, there's a lot of
socializing, playing games, music swapping, etc. We also frequently go
out with the guests to see sights, do pub crawls and other fun stuff.
We provide a full range of services and
features
to make your stay really comfortable. Our kitchen is modern and fully
equipped for making real meals. The bathrooms are bright, clean and
private. Beds are made of solid steel (which means no shaking or
squeaking) and have backpack sized lockers underneath.
Finally, the location is great. We are
located
just 2 blocks from the Downtown Transamerica Pyramid, one block from
the Cable Cars, a few blocks from Chinatown and North Beach, and buses
to everywhere are just outside our door.
This hostel is primarily popular with
'off-the-beaten-path' backpackers and these are the sort of travelers
we love to have. We frequently fill up early in the day, so it's best
to make a reservation for at least your first night. However, we give
priority to our existing guests, so after your first night you can
always stay additional nights up to our maximum stay. If you are not
sure when you'll be in San Francisco, give us a call when you arrive
since we always try to save a few beds for spontaneous travelers.

This was the best hostel that I think I have ever stayed in!! The staff
were so friendly and helpful, I felt welcome immediately. If more
hostels were like this, people wouldn't stay anywhere else
